About

Kitchen Fever with the Cake Diva is written by Denise Allen, and celebrates the “Simply Scrumptious” world of baking, cake making and decorating.

Denise has baked for pleasure since childhood.  Taught the basics by her mother, for many years Denise enjoyed making and decorating cakes for family and friends – the perfect antidote to a number-crunching career in finance departments!

In 2009, when her recession hit employer reduced her working hours, Denise developed her hobby into a small home-baking business – selling her cupcakes and cookies at food festivals, farmer’s markets and other seasonal events in the Hampshire / Surrey region.  Eventually, more and more private orders and commissions meant that Denise could concentrate on creating highly decorative and detailed celebration cakes for birthdays, weddings and the like.

In 2011 Denise returned to full time accountancy work, but her love of baking endures and nowadays she writes this blog to celebrate and showcase the wonderful talent and products that exist in both the home and professional baking and cake decorating worlds.   With only enough time available these days to make cakes for her close friends and family, Denise writes this blog as a hobby, but in doing so hopes to provide a happy and fun place for all those fascinated by baking in all its forms.

Based in Portsmouth in the south of England, Denise topics includes  inspirational cake artistry, spotlight on cake decorators and artisan bakers, baking courses, cake suggestions and ideas for weddings and parties, book reviews, baking shows to visit and products to make baking days easier.  Additionally, she shares her own recipes and tips picked up along the way.

Denise posts daily on the “Kitchen Fever with the Cake Diva”  Pinterest and Facebook pages, and from April 2013 will blog 2-3 times per week.
